Forever Connected"What is Neverland, without James Hook?"
-Jas. Hook, Captain (Hook, 1991 film)
Peter Pan was not like other children in many ways, but all children love storiesespecially stories of themselves. Even when Margaret was well and grown, too old to come with him to Neverland, he visited her window now and then to listen to the stories she told her children. He knew if they wanted, they would come with him like the ones before, but in the meantime he came for the stories. Stories of Indians, pirates, and adventure, andalwaysPeter Pan.
There was a reason he came back. Neverland, and Peter in particular, had a habit of forgetfulness as soon as an adventure was over. For as soon as one ended it was time for another to begin, and there was no point in regretting or even remembering the past. Thus, every story was as if it was brand new to him, and he delighted in the same old tales even as new ones were added.
Years went by, but to Peter it was the blink of an eye
PaybackIt wasn't like Protoman didn't have anything better to do than go looking to fight his brother. He just couldn't think of anything better to do. Heat Man and Needle Man had been summarily scrapped after their failure at rigging Governor Deacon's election, and Proto didn't feel like sticking around to recycle what was left of them. Dark Man he could've hung around with, but he was being repaired, and the other Robot Masters were busy fixing the Skullker. Wily himself was no help, either. Last Proto had checked the Doc was trying to come up with a new scheme to conquer the world after their failure to capture Brain Bot.
Left to his own devices, the only thing Protoman could think of would be to go after Megaman.
"Trouble is," he muttered, "how? I know where Light's lab is, but it's not like I could just walk in there not after what I did," he added with a slight smirk. Gaining his family's trust and betraying them had been one part of the plan that'd worked perf
Personal Business"Hey, uh, X? Megaman X?" Roll ventured. She wasn't quite sure how to talk to the future-bot yet.
The Repliroid turned at the sound of Roll's voice, offering her a smile, if an awkward one. "Yes? Did you need something?"
Roll shrugged. "Uh, not much. I was just curious."
X raised an eyebrow. "About me," he guessed. That would certainly be logical; he was centuries ahead of them both technologically and temporally.
Roll nodded. "About you, yeah. But also about, well, the future."
Megaman X's smile faltered, but only briefly. "Any specific questions? I might be able to give you answers on the datapad, as well."
Roll put her Utility Arm to her chin in thought, unsure where to begin. Finally she spoke.
"I know what you told Dr. Light about him creating you, and that Dr. Cain found you in some warehouse."
She paused, imagining having to clean the place. Had to be awfully dusty if it were abandoned.
"And I also know what you said about the Mavericks-Vile, Spark Mandrill, and that c
Control"Hey, Doc. We need to talk. Now," Protoman says bluntly.
Dr. Wily barely glances up from his workbench, having grown used to Proto's unexpected interruptions. It's a habit he can't quite cure the robot of, but some part of him doesn't mind--after all, it helps him stay on guard in case of Megaman. Still, did he have to walk in right as he was beginning to work on his latest creation?
"What is it, Protoman? You can clearly see that I'm very busy," Wily huffs, gesturing at the array of steel before him. With his other hand he solders some metal together with a laser drill.
"Oh, nothing too important. Just about you, and me, and the other 'bots."
Wily recognizes that tone, the same self-assuredness he himself often displays. It annoys him, though he knows even as he says it that Protoman won't leave until he gets his talk. "Come back when you've a more specific complaint."
Proto shrugs. "Not complainin', Doc. Just saying. You...haven't been yourself lately."
Toon-Megaman Contest Entry
Episode Title: Family Knots
Episode Description: On the anniversary of Rock's conversion to Megaman, Dr. Light unveils new Light-series robots: Tornado Man, Jewel Man, Magma Man, and Splash Woman. Mega, Roll, and Rush are delighted at the prospect of new siblings, especially when they hear their purpose is to help people AND fight Wily. After preliminary tests, the new Lightbots are ready to go.
Unfortunately, it's ANOTHER anniversary, one that the good doctor would rather not think about. The day Cutman, Gutsman, and Iceman were reprogrammed to serve Wily. And when Protoman catches wind of the new robots, Mega's new siblings may become the latest additions to Wily's collection...
Art/Story: See the sprites above. I felt lazy and only did Splash's, ehe, but I tried to make her both stylistically different from her Classic design while still remaining true to it. I also gave her legs, otherwise she'd be restricted to underwater episodes.
